My Job Journey 🚀
  • Software Engineer [Evolve]

    Apple

    New York, NY
    • Joined 3 x 8 month rotational program in the Services Organization that focuses on developing future visionaries in Apple.

After not getting a return offer from my internship, I was in the dark. I applied to countless roles, but through that darkness, I knew my baseline. I knew the culture and the type of challenges I wanted to work with. After some time, I received an email from a recruiter from Apple regarding a SWE Accelerate Program. It focused on accelerating the recruiting process. That program was very tedious. Over 12 interviews, and I ended up getting a 2 verbal offers. However, during that time I was introduced to Evolve by a great friend (SebMaster). If not for him, I would have never known about this opportunity. Evolve is a rotational program ( 3 x 8months) with the Services Organization of Apple. At the time writing this I have no experience yet, but I am excited to start working there.

    • Software Engineer Intern

      Apple

      San Diego, CA
      • Joined the Enterprise Education Technologies Boost Team and actively contributed to the development of customer features and internal tooling.

      • Architected a swift framework that leveraged SPI's and XPC services to enhance the overall customer experience.

      • Worked with interns in the iContest to create a compelling visual abstract, and pitching the feature to senior executives.

      • Tested, screened and triaged bugs by viewing device logs and finding a clearer, defined way of reproducibility.

One of the most common questions I get asked is, 'How did you get an internship at Apple?' The answer is simple, I luck. After applying to countless roles and hearing nothing back. One day right before taking my final for Paradigms, I recieved an intro email from my recruiter. My heart dropped and I thought I was being scammed (up until my first day on the job, I thought I was being scammed). After a couple of rounds of interviewing I received my offer and I was elated. My experience during this internship was amazing. I learned a TON, and gained insight on the brilliancy behind Apple's products. I want to end up at San Diego, because it was the perfect compliment that made work-life balance. Shout out Jono, Melissa, and the everyone I worked with. Yall are amazing, fr. Unforately, I wasn't given a return offer, and so leaving out of Apple was nerve racking but I had to bet on myself looking for FT opportunities.

      • Tested, screened and triaged bugs by viewing device logs and finding a clearer, defined way of reproducibility.

For my spring semester Junior year (3), I attended a program called Silicon Valley Semester. It is a program that focuses on Computer Science students and allows them to co-op while living in the bay area. This experience is what lead me to BILL. I got a contract working for BILL after reaching out to my mentor and was connected to James (my soon-to-be manager). I am so grateful for James for believing in me and giving me a shot. From BILL I was given my first true SDE experience. I was able to work on a team that was focused on the Developer Platform API. Thus began my interested in system design and distributed computing. BILL is a great company with a lot of upside. They had some growing pains with their recent acquistions, but I beleive it is a perfect place to be at to grow levels quickly. Shout out to James, and the rest of the BILL team for being so welcoming and helpful.

Gained a lot of great personal value from this internship. It was the first time living alone truly. I was so far from home, and I had an actual city to explore. My position as a sales engineer made me think about complimenting my engineering mindset with a sales mindset. You need to sell yourself, and your abilities to others. Your branch is very important and it is imperative to be able to effectively communicate that value to others clients. Shout out Paul for showing me trolling fishing.
